Outlets Harrods and Currys, respectively, both claim to be the 1st UK outlets to supply Sony’s first 3D Televisions , which are out for advance order today. Both corporations will be offering Sony’s Bravia HX903 flagship 3D model. The HX903 incorporates 200Hz Motionflow technology and inbuilt Freeview HD with four HDMI ports. The 52-inch model is predicted to retail at £2,500 and other sizes will range from 46-inch up to 60-inch.

Sony also reconfirmed its partnership cope with Sky and Virgin Media supplying compatible 3D content. Currys added that its models have an opening price of £1,999 and it’ll sell the HX903 for £2,999. As we reported about Samsung and LG yesterday, Sony’s technology needs active shutter 3D glasses that Currys will sell for £99.99 each, and they are likely not interoperable with other 3D Television makers’ glasses. So why did both firms claim to be first to offer the Sony 3D Television line for pre order today? We talked with Sony UK’s PR chief, David Edward, who said Sony had not made any exclusiveness deals with either. But did reiterate that “the HX903 should be available in good time for the World Cup.” Curry’s from the other standpoint was kind enough to send us this image of some of its staff being suitably dazzled by the 3D technology.

It seems that there is a just a little of semantic gymnastics concerned here. Currys stated it is “the only retailer currently offering pre-orders nationwide,” so we gave it a call to let it know Harrods is also offering an advance order service. Currys answered that Harrods is only offering a limited in-store service, while Currys has countrywide rollout. It also will be the 1st retailer to supply Sony’s 3D Television for advance order on the internet.
